First, make sure you warm up whenever you play tennis. Make sure you get in proper stretching and practice serves to prevent injuries.

Next, start hitting only forehands with your practice partner. In order to hit more topspin on your tennis forehand, you must first be able have some consistency hitting forehands.

Make sure you are not focusing solely on snapping upwards though, as this will cause the ball to not even go over the net. Make sure you get a good mix of forward-swinging motion and an upward wrist-flick as your tennis racquet hits the ball. A proper follow through is also required to allow yourself to hit the perfect amount of topspin. Generally you want to follow through to opposite shoulder.
