How to Make Fried Rice Fast
If your favorite takeout place is closed or you just want to make a very quick meal at home, Chinese-style fried rice is easy to make. You can use almost any vegetables you may have left over and vary the amount of each ingredient to suit your own taste. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 2 eggs
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 scallions, sliced
- 1/2 cup green peas and carrots
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Cooked chicken, pork or shrimp (optional)

Place the two eggs into a bowl and beat them until well mixed. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

Heat a pan or a wok on high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Add the scallions, green peas, carrots and any other vegetables you like. Just make sure whatever you add is cut into bite-sized pieces. Stir-fry the vegetables for a minute.

Pour your beaten eggs into your pan or wok and cook. Break the egg up into bite-sized pieces using a spatula.

If you are using chicken, pork or shrimp, add it to the pan or wok.

Add brown or white rice. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Add a tablespoon of soy sauce. Turn heat down to medium and break up any big pieces of rice stuck together.

Cook for three to five minutes and then serve.

Tips & Warnings
This is a very basic and easy meal to make. Total cooking time is less than 8 minutes.
