Things You'll Need:
- Vacuum
- Steam Cleaner
- Mop
- Clean white cloth or rag
- Clear liquid dishwashing detergent
-
Step 1
Allow the mud to dry. After the mud has dried, dispose of large chunks of dirt by hand and vacuum the remaining dirt.
-
Step 2
If the dirt was on the floor, mop the stain with a mixture of 1/4 cup of clear dishwashing liquid and a gallon of water. After the stain is removed, mop with water to make sure the soap is gone.
-
Step 3
If the dirt was on carpet and the stain is more than a square foot, use a steam cleaner to suck up the dirt and remove the stain. If you don't have a steam cleaner, rent one. You could spend hours completely blotting the stain off with a white cloth. (It is recommended that you don't scrub by hand. The carpet pile will end up warped and worn looking).
-
Step 4
If the dirt on the carpet is less than a square foot, you can use the 1/4 cup of clear dishwashing liquid and a gallon of water mixture to blot out the stain with a clean white cloth.
