The key to hosting a successful garage sale is advertising. The more sources you use to advertise the more successful your garage sale will be. Unfortunately advertising can be expensive. Here are some tip to advertise your garage sale cheaply.

    It is essential that you advertise your garage sale in your local newspaper because most garage sale shoppers will only use this tool to locate sales. This will probably be your most expensive form of advertising, but it is necessary. It is often helpful to list a few big ticket items in your ad generate traffic. Be sure to keep your ad short to save money.

  2. Step 2

    Internet sites like GarageSaleHunter.com will let you list your sale for free. In addition they provide street maps so people can find your garage sales easily. You can also search for garage sales for free at GarageSaleHunter.com.

  3. Step 3

    Craigslist is another great online tool to advertise your garage sale. Garage sale listings are free on Craigslist, so you can be as detailed as you want with your listing.

  4. Step 4

    Make BIG signs to advertise your garage sale. Many garage sale shoppers will stop by a sale they don't know about if they see a sign. Make your signs BIG and clear. Hang them at key intersections around your neighborhood to draw traffic.

  5. Step 5

    Use word of mouth to advertise your sale. Tell you friends, family, neighbors and co-workers about your sale and encourage them to tell others.
