This article goes through the different nail types and what treatments are best for them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is finding out what type of nails you have. The three most common types are dry, brittle or depleted. a dry nail has a dull powder like finish with white spots and a rough texture when running your finger across it. Brittle nails have a curve to them as they grow. The nails will grow under. Depleted nails are very soft with peeling and slow to no nail growth to them.

  2. Step 2

After figuring out what nail type you are heres how to care for them. For dry nails use vitamin e oil daily to moisturize. For brittle nails always apply a base coat before polishing. For depleted nails use a base coat that contains clacium, keratin and soy.

  3. Step 3

When you have dry nails avoid any nail polish that contains toluene. When you have brittle nails always avoid any product that says its a nail hardner. For depleted nails avoid over exposure to sulfate which is found in some hand soaps and use a lotion to protect your nails before a long bath or soak or swim.
