I am a mother to a daughter who was colicky it was by far one of the hardest things to deal with. Here are some tips that seemed to help us get through this very trying time

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Open Mind
  • Patience
  • Partner
  1. Step 1

There are many things that can make a baby upset or cry, if you go through all the usual ... diaper, hungry, tired, needs to be burped, sick and they are still VERY upset you might have a colicky baby. My daughter would cry and cry for no reason. Nothing will "cure" a colicky baby I know there are over the counter things like gripe water, which I did try but got no relief. At this point you will try anything

  2. Step 2

One thing my daughter really liked was outside, I would take her outside where it was quiet and she could hear the birds and feel the breeze and that seemed to help calm her down. By her hearing different sounds and seeing different sights it helps to distract her. Another thing was talking and reading to her. Babies are so fascinated by anything and just opening and book and showing her all the colorful pages seemed to help to. Don't get me wrong there will be times that nothing will calm them

  3. Step 3

Walks seem to work as well! When it was winter and a walk outside wasn't in the cards I would walk around the house and show her outside through the windows. Alot of times colicky behavior can be caused by acid reflux. Always take your child to see the Dr if the crying seems to be constant. Remember it will get better, one day it just stopped for us. She was like a different baby so happy and smiling! Its like a light switch! It can last up to 6 months of age but don't worry eventually you will get your happy baby back!

Tips & Warnings
  • Keeping your baby occupied will always help with pain or just feeling sad.
