Learn how to get boat insurance quotes by using this step by step guide. Protect your boat or watercraft with boat insurance.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get boat insurance quotes by consulting your current insurance company.

Boat insurance is usually provided by most car insurance companies. Call your current insurance company and ask about adding a boat insurance policy.

  2. Step 2

After getting a price quote for boat insurance from your current insurance company, consider comparing price quotes from other insurance companies that provide boat insurance.

Compare your initial quote with both general insurance providers and specialty boat insurance providers. Common car insurance companies which offer boat insurance include: Geico, Progressive, Allstate, Travelers, Nationwide, and State Farm. Specialty boat insurance providers include Boat US Marine Insurance, United Marine Underwriters, and NBOA Marine Insurance.

  3. Step 3

Negotiate, if necessary, with your current insurance company.

After you get multiple boat insurance quotes, call back your insurance company and try negotiating a better deal, if you found their initial quote for boat insurance to be relatively high. Often times the insurance company will negotiate with you because you are a current policy holder.
