How to Plan Ahead for a Road Trip

It's time for that road trip you've been waiting for and you don't want to be stressed out on the day of the trip. Here are a few tips that will keep you stress-free, organized and ready to for a great road trip!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A reliable vehicle
  • Sufficient amount of money (Cash is recommended)
  • Snacks (fruit,chips, pretzels, etc.)
  • Drinks (Water bottles, juice, soda, etc.)
  • A small cooler to keep your drinks/fruits cold
  • Luggage's
  • First Aid Kit (w/ a flashlight and matches)
  • CD's, Ipod or MP3 player

    PREPARE FOR THE TRIP 1-2 NIGHT(S) BEFORE DEPARTURE: Make a realistic list of the things you need to bring on the road trip. Be sure and try to pack as lightly as possible! If you're packing for your children be sure to make a list for them as well. If you're getting snacks and drinks for the trip make a list and buy them a day BEFORE the trip.

    PREPARE THE CAR: A CLEAN CAR is always a happy car, especially if you're going to take it on a road trip for several hours! Organize the car a bit before the day of the trip. Get rid of trash and clutter. If possible, START PUTTING THINGS in your vehicle the night before, this will minimize stress and worrying the day of the trip. Also, ADD GAS & check the tires the night before also so that you can be ready the day of departure.

    BRING THE DIRECTIONS AND/OR THE GPS: With many technological advances, the GPS is an amazing way to get from point A to B without much fuss and worry. If you do not own one yet, bring an updated map or directions from the Internet. Be sure to check several sources before you agree on which way you route you want to take.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget to bring your phone and its charger!
  • Do not forget any medications that you need to bring.
  • If you're feeling sleepy or tired while driving, pull over and rest and check-in a motel/hotel in order to get adequate rest.
