Reupholster Dining Room Chairs

Got an ugly dining room chair? Don't toss it, reupholster it!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • upholstery material of your choice
  • screw driver (screw gun works best)
  • staple gun
  • staples for staple gun
  1. Step 1

Before you purchase new material, measure your chairs. Remember that 36 inches is in a yard. Multiply the amount of fabric you will need by the amount of chairs you will re upholster.

  2. Step 2

Turn chair upside down. Look to see if you need a flat head screwdriver or philips. Philips has the cross in it.

Unscrew the screws that holds the chair seat in place. Once you have that off use the flat head screwdriver to pop off the staples holding the fabric.

  3. Step 3

Lay out your new material backside up placing the old material on top to use as a pattern. Cut your new material.

  4. Step 4

Place your new material on the chair seat and staple in place. Start on one side and then go to the opposite side until all sides are stapeled. Do make sure to pull the fabric tight before stapleing.

  5. Step 5

Place recovered seat on upside down chair and screw in place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use material that is heavy duty that will last.
  • You can add protective plastic by cutting out with pattern and adding plastic on top before stapling.
