Diesel - My English Bulldog
Diesel - My English Bulldog

English bulldogs are a special breed. They require extra care and a watchful eye. My bulldog loves attention, but also needs sufficient time for naps!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dog Food
  • Toys
  • Crate (large)
  • Bedding (pillow or blanket)
  • Heavy leash/collar
  1. Step 1
    Lamb and Rice Meal
    Lamb and Rice Meal

First is feeding... Our bulldog gets one meal at 5:30pm everyday. Each meal requires two scoops of dog food with warm/hot water added. Not only does the water make the meal soupy (which Diesel loves), but it softens the food so that he does not choke. We use the Iams brand lamb and rice meal. This seems to work best as he likes it and it doesn't give him as bad of gas as other dog foods have.

  2. Step 2

Cleaning/Bathing... We have anti-fungul wipes that we use to clean his backside with. His tail curls just enough that he needs a little extra help keeping the area clean. Also, we take an unscented baby wipe and clean his wrinkles on his face weekly. This helps keep his face nice and clean as well as infection free. After every meal, we wash his face. He carries the juices from his meal with him after he's done eating, so to keep the furniture clean, he requires a little extra clean-up.

  3. Step 3

Finally, make sure to give your bulldog the much needed attention he/she deserves. Diesel is very loving and requires a lot of attention. He doesn't require a lot of exercise, especially if it's hot. If you do decide to take your bulldog outdoors, keep a close eye on them. If they get too hot, their throat can close making it very hard to impossible for them to breathe. Diesel loves to walk, but he can't go on extremely long walks. He will overexert himself very easily and can get overheated just as easy.

Tips & Warnings
  • All pets require some sort of attention. Be aware of this when deciding which animal you prefer.
  • Don't over feed.
  • It's a bulldog, so he/she will get into things if you allow them to get bored. Keep an eye on them and make sure you have designated toys.
  • Bulldogs have a very strong mouth. Make sure the toys you provide for them are durable and replace them often.
