Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decimal equivalent chart
  • Piece of paper
  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

A fraction is only another way of expressing a percentage of a particular object. It is composed of two parts the top part is called the numerator, and the bottom part is called the denominator. This how to deals with how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. Some ways that they teach you this in school is so complicated that nobody can figure it out but the teacher.

In order to do this how to you are going to need a decimal equivalent chart that could be had at industrial supply store or most hardware stores. At industrial supply store is nothing more then another name for a hardware store. A decimal equivalent chart shows the decibel equivalent of a fraction.

  2. Step 2

To add fractions together you divide the numerator by the denominator this will give you the decimal equivalent of that particular fraction. Then repeat the same steps for the other fraction. Add the decibel numbers to gather and that will give you the decimal equivalent of the new fraction that you get from the decibel equivalent chart. This can give you the answer for any number of fractions that are added together. When you add the decimals together you will often find that you have a positive number to the left of the decimal point in that case just deal with the number to the right of the decimal point.

In the first place where you don't wind up with a positive number the decibel should look like this: .12345, then you look it up on the decimal equivalent chart and find out what matches the decimal number that you have derived is the Decimal equivalent of the new fraction. If you have a positive number to the left of the decimal number leave it where it is and find out what is the fraction derived from the decimal number that is on the right side of the decimal point.

To subtract fractions you just go through the same process of dividing the numerator by the denominator to get the decimal equivalent. You then subtract the larger decimal equivalent by the smaller decimal equivalent to finally reach the decimal equivalent of your new fraction. The new fraction can be found on the decimal equivalent chart.

To multiply fractions you go through the same steps again only in this case you have to multiply one decimal equivalent by another. Poll numbers to the left of the decimal are left alone as part of your answer. If the new decimal number is greater than zero you have to go to the decimal equivalent chart once again to find the new fraction of your number.

To divide fractions you just go through the same steps again only in this case you decide the larger decimal equivalent by the smaller decimal equivalent and then look up on the decimal equivalent chart what your new fraction is.

  3. Step 3

This is a much simpler way to derived the new fractions then the method that you are first taught in school; that is enough to give your body the adgita. It always looked to me like a bunch of hen scratchings.
