How to Make Ox Tail Stew

Ox tail is a favorite food item for many cultures. It is very tasty and nutritional. Try out this special cooking style and you'll love ox tail from now on! Does this Spark an idea?

      Get ox tail cut into manageable sizes:

      When you buy ox tail, make sure you buy them cut already into manageable sizes - the smaller slices the better. Get about 2 to 2 1/2 pounds.

      Add cleaned ox tail into boiling water:

      Boil the ox tail in medium heat for five minutes. Drain water. Rinse the ox tail.

      Cook ox tail with marinade:

      Add rinsed ox tail in about 3 cups of water. Add about 1/2 cup of Chinese marinade. Cook in low-medium heat.

      Add carrots and onion:

      Add slices of 3 medium-sized red carrots and medium-sized onion (cut into pieces) to the pot.

      Continue the stewing in low heat:

      Watch the pot. Stir frequently to avoid bottom-sticking. Add water if necessary.

      Serve when ox tail is tender:

      Stop cooking when ox tail becomes tender. When the ox tail is about done, add 1-2 tsp of ketchup before serving.
