How to Make a Scrapbook Paper Picture Frame
Scrapbooking paper doesn't have to be used only in your scrapbook. You can use it to decorate photos that hang on your wall or sit on your desk, too. You probably already have numerous colors, patterns and designs to choose from in your scrapbook supplies. Even better, you can use your scrapbooking embellishments to further decorate the frame and personalize it. Given as gifts or used to add a personal touch to your home decor, scrapbook picture frames will help your photos pop.

1
Find a piece of cardboard that is 2 to 3 inches wider and longer than the photo you wish to frame. If your photo is 8 inches by 10 inches, your frame should be at least 9 inches to 11 inches wide and 11 inches to 13 inches long.
.

2
Lay your cardboard on a cutting mat. Use a ruler or template to mark a rectangular shape that is slightly smaller than your photo. If using an 8-by-10-inch photo, your shape should be 7 ½ inches by 9 ½ inches. Make sure the shape is centered on your piece of cardboard. Cut it out with a craft knife and remove the center shape, leaving behind the frame.

3
Trim a piece of scrapbook paper so it is 1 inch longer and 1 inch wider than your cardboard frame. Lay the scrapbooking paper facedown on your work table.
-
4
Place the frame facedown on top of the paper. Trace a rectangle lightly with a pencil onto the scrapbooking paper on the inside of the frame, slightly smaller than the opening you made. Cut the shape out.
-
5
Locate the inner corners of the cardboard frame. Make a dot on the paper where it meets the inner corner. Make a cut with a craft knife from the dot to the inner corner of the paper frame. This will create four flaps.
-
6
Wrap the flaps up and over the inner sides of the cardboard frame. Tape or glue them in place.
-
7
Hold a ruler catty-cornered against one outer corner of the cardboard frame and trace a line on the paper. The line will form a triangle with the corner of the paper. Repeat this on the other three corners.
-
8
Trim off the triangles by cutting across the lines you drew. Wrap the paper around each side of the cardboard frame. The edges where you cut the triangles off will come together to form a corner. Glue or tape the paper in place.
-
9
Cut a piece of plastic sheet protector to be slightly larger than the inside rectangle of the frame. Tape or glue it to the back of the frame. Place your photo facedown over the sheet protector and center it. Tape it in place.
-
10
Cut out a cardboard rectangle that is slightly smaller than the frame. Place it over the back of the photo to protect it and use tape or glue around the edges to secure it in place.
-
11
Turn the frame over and decorate it with stickers, buttons, die cuts or other scrapbook embellishments
-
12
Tape or glue a piece of ribbon to the back cardboard so you can hang it on a tack. Alternately, stand it on a table-top photo easel and set it on your desk or mantel.
