How to Learn to Barefoot Ski Behind a Boat

If you ever wanted to learn to barefoot ski but just could not figure it out, then this is the article for you. If you are athletic and you can ski, you should be able to barefoot.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • knee board
  • ski rope
  • boat that goes 50 MPH
  1. Step 1

The key to skiing on your feet is the right combination of speed and balance. I like to straddle a kneeboard sitting on my bottom at about 38 to 42 mph depending on how much you weigh. Shorten up the ski rope from the typical 75' to about 50'.

  2. Step 2

Place your feet a little past shoulder width apart. Start out slow and as you slowly get the feel for it you will begin to stand up and the board will just come out from under you.

  3. Step 3

Now you should be on just your own two feet. It will definately take a few go arounds to get up but this is the best way to learn with out a boom. If you are athletic and you can ski, you should be able to barefoot. Good Luck!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try different speeds until you find the right speed to support your body weight on just your feet.
  • Keep in mind that if you fall that kneeboard can hit you from behind.
  • Always wear a life jacket and have a spotter
