Prepare for The New School Year
Prepare for The New School Year

The beginning of a new school year can be both exciting and frightening for students of all ages. Transitioning from the long lazy days of summer to the busy days of school can be overbearing and difficult. Here are some tips on how make that transition as smooth as possible.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set a bedtime and wake up time. During summer you may not have had to wake up as early as you will for school. Getting used to a new sleep schedule a week or two in advance will help you get into practice for the school year. Be sure to get 8 hours of sleep and have breakfast in the morning.

  2. Step 2

Learn your schedule. If your school is open during summer, find out where all of the classrooms are located. Visit them in the order your classes will be so you can ensure you know how to get to each of them.

  3. Step 3

Time the route to school. If you drive, you may want to account for extra time during the school year because of the busier streets. If you walk, you will be able to accurately know how long it will take you to get to school. The first couple days of school you will want to give yourself a few extra minutes just incase the trip takes longer than it did during the practice.

  4. Step 4

Find out the bus time if you take a bus or ensure that you have a ride to school. If you rely on others for transportation, you will need to make sure they know what time you need to be picked up and arrive at school. Make sure you have your after school transportation set up as well. If you will be taking a bus, find out the bus number and the time it will arrive.

  5. Step 5

Buy all books and basic school supplies a few weeks in advance. At minimum, make sure you have something to write with and something to write on. If you have the time, you could even read the first chapter from each book to be prepared for the first week of school. Some teachers will get right into things and have a quiz the second day of school. You will be ahead of the others and only have to glance through it again to refresh your brain on the subject.
