Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • All you need is a few memories or special moments in mind concerning the couple.
  1. Step 1

Compile a list of possible topics to bring up during the toast and decide on the appropriate length of the toast depending on the couples wishes. Some examples of possible topics include; how they met, fun times you shared with the couple and what makes them perfect for one another. Avoid topics that bring up embarassing or improper memories. Remember that the audience will consist of childern and adults, make it appropriate for all. Typical speaches/toasts don't last longer than five minutes.

  2. Step 2

Next, write out in elaborate but personalable terms a short story or memory. In this portion you can add a bit of humor if you wish. Make sure it is appropriate and that the majority of the audience will understand the joke. It may be intended for the couple, but the speech will be more successful if everyone can relate and enjoy with the couple.

  3. Step 3

Now, you should have a rough draft of your speech. Rewrite until it reads smoothly and the language flows. Make sure that it sounds like you. It won't mean as much if you read it without emotion and feeling. Make it special, simple and memorable.

  4. Step 4

Finally, you have your piece complete and have read it to a trusted friend and recieved feedback. Now practice how you will deliver it. Stand in front of a mirror and challenge yourself to look up multiple times during the piece and make eye contact with yourself. This will help you connect to the audience and look natural doing it. Practice giving natural pauses for laughter in the audience ( when appropriate). It should sound as if you are just having a natural conversation and not delievering an oration. Practice plenty before hand and you will give an incredibly special toast to the newly weds.
