Saint Jude Thaddeus is the patron of the desperate, the hopeless and seemingly lost causes. He's the pray-to guy when times are toughest. For hundreds of years, those in need have invoked the intercession of this beloved martyr, with positive if not miraculous results. The following is an authentic, beautiful, centuries old, tried-and-true prayer and ritual for obtaining the help of St. Jude.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Faith
  1. Step 1

Bow your head and make The Sign of the Cross while saying, "In the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Amen."

  2. Step 2

Recite the following one (1) time, inserting your request where specified:

Most Holy Apostle St. Jude Thaddeus, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your Beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors you, and I invoke you as the special advocate of those who are in trouble and almost without hope. Help me to realize that, through our faith, we triumph over life's difficulties by the power of Jesus who loved us and gave His life for us. Come to my assistance, so that I may receive the consolation and succor of Heaven in all of my needs, trials and sufferings, particularly (MAKE YOUR REQUEST HERE). And that I may praise God with you and all the saints, forever.

St. Jude, apostle of the Word of God, pray for us.
St. Jude, follower of the Son of God, pray for us.
St. Jude, preacher of the Love of God, pray for us.
St. Jude, intercessor before God, pray for us.
St. Jude, friend of all in need, pray for us.
St. Jude, pray for us and for all who invoke your aid.

  3. Step 3

Recite the following nine (9) times:

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored, glorified,
loved and preserved throughout the world, now and forever.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
St. Jude, worker of miracles, pray for us.
St. Jude, help for the hopeless, pray for us.

  4. Step 4

Bow your head and make a closing Sign of the Cross, as in Step 1.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4, once a day for nine (9) consecutive days.

  6. Step 6

Publish your thanks to St. Jude. (Please, be sure to read the TIPS & WARNINGS below.)

Tips & Warnings
  • The aid of St. Jude is invoked by "Novena," a devotion that is performed for nine consecutive days, as instructed above. In addition, St. Jude requires that thanks be published in some form afterward, to spread word so that others may be helped. This can be done by classified ad, message board, flyer, etc.
  • St. Jude Thaddeus is one of the original Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ.
  • You don't need to be Catholic to recite this prayer. St. Jude is an intercessor between man and God, and God is not denominational.
  • The Western feast day of St. Jude is October 28, the date of my mother's birth and passing. My mother was a life-long devotee, leaving me medals, prayer cards, devotionals, relics and other items associated with her patron saint. It is in her memory and honor that I share with you this prayer.
  • Never pray to do harm and/or for things that are wrong or unjust. Your prayer will not be answered in the way you hope. Karma is real.
