Steam cleaning pressure washers provide pressurized bouts of steam for removing messes, dirt and grime from tiny crevices on a surface. Steam pressure washers use higher temperatures than water pressure washers and can clean objects that should avoid excess moisture. The washers are often used for the removal of chewing gum on sidewalks and pavement.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pressurized steam cleaner
  • Water
  • Nozzle attachments
  • Protective clothing
  • Leak resistant boots
  • Shop Vac or wet vacuum
  1. Step 1

Prepare the area to be steam cleaned by removing surface particles either by sweeping or vacuuming. This ensures that the steam cleaning pressure washer does not push the surface litter into the tiny crevices of the surface being cleaned.

  2. Step 2

Fill the tank of the pressurized steam cleaner with water and turn it on. Allow the water to heat inside the powered tank before beginning to steam clean. Do not include harsh cleaning solutions; the benefit of steam cleaning with a pressure washer is that the steam and pressure provide all the cleaning solution necessary.

  3. Step 3

Attach the desired cleaning nozzle heads. Smaller nozzle heads provide more concentrated jets of pressurized steam. Use smaller nozzle heads when working next to equipment that should not be wet with steam or water. Large nozzle heads work well for cleaning large surfaces, such as tile, ceramic or even carpeted floors.

  4. Step 4

Pass the nozzle over the area to be cleaned, while holding in the button to release the pressurized steam. Pass the steam over until see the dirt or stuck-on messes have been removed or lifted. For carpets, pass over several times to lift the dirt and oils from deep in the carpet.

  5. Step 5

Pass a broom or vacuum back over the surface to remove the items that have been lifted from the surface that was steam cleaned. Use a wet vacuum when cleaning a carpet that has just been steam cleaned.

  6. Step 6

Allow the surface to dry and then examine for traces of dirt or grime. Repeat the pressurized steam cleaning if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear heat resistant protective clothing to prevent burns from the steam. You may also want to wear safety goggles to prevent particles of rubbish from getting into your eyes. Wearing leak-proof, water resistant boots, preferably knee-high or higher, prevents your feet from getting burned by the steam while you are cleaning floor surfaces.
