People love to tend to their gardens and enjoy the flowers that grow throughout the year. Most think about what our gardens look like during the day. Moonflowers, which need very little tending, only come out at night and are a fragrant addition to any garden. Plant some moonflower seeds in your garden and watch the vines take off and add another dimension to your yard.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start your seeds indoors six to eight weeks before the last frost. Soak the seeds in water for a few minutes. Wrap the wet seeds in damp paper towels. Put the paper towels in a plastic bag to keep them moist.

  2. Step 2

Place the moist seed packet in a cool, dark place such as a closet. Allow them to sit overnight to sprout.

  3. Step 3

Check the seeds in the morning to see if they have germinated. Add more water to dampen the paper towels and leave the seed packet in the closet for another night, if necessary.

  4. Step 4

Plant the sprouts in a large pot filled with potting soil. Make sure they have plenty of room to grow before transplanting them outside.

  5. Step 5

Transplant the vines to your garden. Plant near a fence so the growing vines have something to climb on.

  6. Step 6

Watch the vines grow. Enjoy the beautiful, fragrant flowers in the evenings once the flowers have bloomed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plant moonflowers where they have plenty of space. They are very hearty and have a tendency to take over a garden.
