Step 1
Choose the color of the gold Star of David. As with other jewelry, you can purchase both yellow and white gold pendants. Whichever you select will depend on the chain that goes with that pendant as well as the preference of the person for whom you are shopping.
-
Step 2
Pick the size of the Star of David pendant. Star of David pendants can be very thin and an inch in length or thick and several inches in length. Remember that larger pendants only work if the person wears a larger chain with that pendant. Otherwise, the necklace could break.
-
Step 3
Determine if you want a solid or open Star of David pendant. Open pendants will be just the outline of the star with a hole in the center as well as at the star points. Other pendants may be completely solid or just filled in at the middle of the star.
-
Step 4
Consider a gold Star of David pendant that has jewels on the pendant. If the pendant isn't solid, you can still add diamonds, rubies or other jewels on the points of each or half of the stars. You could add a jewel in the center of the pendant if it is solid. Most jewelers will offer pendants that either already come with jewels attached or give you the options of adding them (you will have to pay extra for the jewels and the jeweler adding the jewels to the pendant).
-
Step 5
Look at other pendants or icons you can add to the Star of David pendant. A Messianic Jew, for example, may wish to add a cross in the center of the pendant. If you are buying a solid Star of David, you could have the initials of the person or an icon engraved into the pendant.
