How to Build A Bike Rack For your Apartment

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 - 22 3/4 pieces of Pvc pipe
  • 2 - 12 1/2 inch ices of Pvc pipe
  • 4 - 7 inch pieces of Pvc pipe
  • 5 - 1 1/4 pieces of Pvc pipe
  • 6 - 90 degree Pvc pipe elbows
  • 6 - PVC pipe Tee' s
  • 1 can each of PVC glue and cleaner
  1. Step 1

    First cut all your pieces to length

  2. Step 2

    Find the 2- 22 3/4 inch upright pipes and clean each end with PVC cleaner then apply glue to the pipe and elbow then attach 1 - 90 degree elbow to each end of the pipes

  3. Step 3

    Find the 4 - 7 inch pieces of PVC pipe these will be used for your base pieces and then apply cleaner and glue to the pipe and pipe elbows then attach 90 degree pipe elbow to one end of each piece.

  4. Step 4

    Again take the 7 inch base piece and glue a pipe Tee to the opposite end. Then using a 1 1/4 pieces of pipe to join the tee's of the two base pieces. (repeat this step to join the other two base pieces)

  5. Step 5

    Join the elbows of two 22 3/4 inch upright pieces using the 1 1/4 pipe so that it forms a U shape. Next glue the Tee' s to the end of the U, so that the middle pipe is attatched to the long upright pipe. ( this should look like two letter T' s facing each other)

  6. Step 6

    Using two 1 1/4 pieces , attach the tee's to the U to the tee' s of the base pipe using the PVC glue. Then on the opposite end of the upright pipe tee, connect the 12 1/2 inch wheel base pipe.

  7. Step 7

    Next attach the tee's of the other base piece that you created in step 4 to the 12 1/2 inch pipe to complete the bike rack.

Tips & Warnings
  • This Bike rack can be expanded to accomodate more than one bike by leaving the ends off one side and repeating the process until the desired number of spaces is achieved.
  • Wear safety glasses at all times
  • While using Pipe glue ensure there is propper ventilation
  • always use PVC cleaner prior to gluing
