Young girls absolutely love Hello Kitty! Make your girl's next birthday a Hello Kitty Birthday. This is an easy party theme, as there are products galore of this famous kitty, from decorations to party favors to candy molds. This article has suggestions for invitations, decorating ideas and how to use candy molds in conjunction with Hello Kitty cupcakes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make your own invitations using plain stock cards, Hello Kitty rubber stamps, ink and colored pencils. Keep the design simple or go crazy! Maybe include "You are invited to a purr-fect party!" On the back of the envelope, seal with a cute sticker.

  2. Step 2

Make Hello Kitty candy faces for the tops of cupcakes. Look for Hello Kitty face candy molds, a cake decorating bag and the smallest writing tube, available in baking department of most hobby stores or online. Buy white chocolate candy melt wafers and Wilton food color pastes (black for eyes, pink for nose and other pastels for her hair bows). Melt about 1/8 cup of white candy melts in the microwave (be careful not to scorch it) and add a small amount of black paste (end of a toothpick); place in decorator bag with writing tube attached. In the mold, fill in the tiny whiskers and eyes. Do the same for the pink nose and hair bow. Wait for the whiskers, nose and bow to harden, then fill with the white to finish the face. Place the molds in the refrigerator for about 1/2 hour -- they will remove easily. Ice the cupcakes with any color butter cream icing, or use white and sprinkle with EDIBLE cake and cookie glitter. Set the Hello Kitty faces in the icing.

  3. Step 3

Decorate the party room with pastel streamers and balloons. And there is no such thing as too many balloons! Check the dollar for white tissue tablecloths (these can be easily Hello Kitty stickered or stamped), plastic plates, cups and party favor bags.

  4. Step 4

Serve pink punch from a glass punch bowl decorated with Hello Kitty stickers.
To make pink punch: In a punch bowl, add 1/2 gallon semi-softened raspberry sherbet with 2 liters Ginger-Ale.
Keep the food simple -- english muffins pizza, chicken nuggets and raw vegetables with dip.

  5. Step 5

Let the kids play with the rubber stamps you used for the invitations. Have them stamp Hello Kitty outlines on paper and fill in with colored pencils.

  6. Step 6

Play "Find Hello Kitty." Designate a child to be the kitty and blindfold her. The other kids are mice. They "squeak" and scatter about while the kitty locates (eliminating) the mice one-by-one by touch. The last mouse standing gets to be the next "kitty."

  7. Step 7

Send the kids home with a party favor bag with such items as Hello Kitty stickers, a whistle, plastic beaded necklace or bracelet, and Hello Kitty candy made from the molds, wrapped in saran wrap. Look for most of these items in a Dollar Store.
