Many times when you order Roses from online nurseries and gardening centers, they are shipped bare root. Bare root just means there is no dirt around the root area. Bare root Roses grow into beautiful Rose Bushes just the same as any other Rose Bush. As soon as your bare root Roses arrive here are some simple steps to follow.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Remove all packaging material from round your new Rose Bush.

  2. Step 2

    Fill a bucket will cool water. Put the Rose Bush in the water roots first. It’s ok it the stems are under water. Let the Rose Bush soak for 24 hours.

  3. Step 3

    Remove the Rose Bush from the water. Cut off all broken stems and roots.

  4. Step 4

    Dig a hole about 3 to 4 inches deeper than the length of the root and 3 to 4 inches wider than the width of the root.

  5. Step 5

    Add about 2 to 3 inches of compost to the bottom of the hole. Mix compost with remaining dirt from the hole to make it a 50-50 mix and set aside.

  6. Step 6

    Put the roots into the hole and fill around it with the 50-50 soil compost mixture. Push the soil down firmly. Water the Rose Bush. Let the water absorb into the ground. Add more soil compost mixture to form a small mound.
