Things You'll Need:
- 2 Saucepans or a double boiler
- Metal strainer or cheesecloth
- Spoons
- Measuring cup
- Bowls
- Stick blender
- Mason jar
-
Step 1
You will need to sterilize your equipment prior to making. Simply boil water and then place your implements in the sink and slowly pour the boiling water over them. You are now ready.
-
Step 2
Measure the following ingredients in a saucepan. A double boiler is best. If you do not own one you can use a regular pan just being careful to not burn the oils.
1/4 cup cold-processed, unrefined organic coconut oil.
1/2 cup cold-processed, unrefined organic grapeseed, almond or sunflower oil.
1/4 oz. Beeswax (these are purchased in 1 oz bars)
Use the lowest heat setting, strain and set aside. Allow to cool a little. -
Step 3
Put your choice of herb into the sterile bowl. You can mix and match the herbs to have targeted results. Search the internet for websites pertaining to herb usage and there are many great books on the subject also. Boil 1/3 cup distilled water. Add either 3 Tbsp dried or 4 Tbsp fresh herbs to the water. I like to use Chamomile Flowers. Allow to steep for 20 to 30 minutes. After that time strain and make sure all herb particles are strained out. Add 1/2 cup cold-pressed, organic aloe vera gel, and 1 tsp organic wheat germ oil. At this point you can add nutritive additives such as 5 drops of Carrot Seed Oil or 5 drops of Wheat Protein.
-
Step 4
Take the melted and cooled oils and drizzle slowly into the herbal infused water. Mix with the stick blender. If the oil had cooled the mixture will look thick and if the oils were still considerably warm, the mixture will look thin. Either is okay. It will thicken up when completely cooled. Pour into your sterilized mason jar. Put the date and use within three months if not refrigerated, longer if you keep it in the fridge. Enjoy!
