Activate a LED Solar Landscape Light

LED solar landscape lights have a rechargeable battery inside that stores enough energy to power the LED light all throughout the night. Manufacturers usually ship these lights with a plastic strip that keeps the battery and LED light deactivated until use. Read on to learn how to activate your solar powered LED landscape light prior to use.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • LED Solar Landscape Light
  1. Step 1

Remove the LED lamp unit from its base. Begin by carefully rotating the LED lamp unit counter-clockwise 1/4 turn to the left. This disengages the locking lugs below the lamp unit.

  2. Step 2

Remove LED lamp unit from the base. Carefully lift the LED lamp unit off of the base. CAUTION: With the LED lamp unit removed, do not bend or damage the protruding LED light.

  3. Step 3

Completely remove and discard plastic deactivation strip. Locate the clear plastic deactivation strip on the underside of LED lamp unit. Slowly and completely pull it out of the lamp unit. This allows the internal battery to make contact with the electrical circuit.

  4. Step 4

Reinstall LED lamp unit onto the base. Align the locking lugs of the LED lamp unit to the base and carefully rotate the lamp unit clockwise 1/4 turn to the right. This re-engages the locking lugs.

  5. Step 5

Task complete! With the light and battery circuit activated properly, your LED lamp will now turn on and off automatically in darkness or light. Now, put your light out where you want it and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Your solar-powered LED landscaping light should work long into the future due to the materials, design and reliability of today's products. However, rechargeable batteries do not last forever. Eventually, your LED landscaping light will stop operating and chances are good that its just a failed rechargeable battery. These are fairly easy to replace and requires disassembly of the lamp unit.
