How to Check Your Articles for Plagiarism before Publishing or Selling
Plagiarism can occur unintentionally to writers who produce a large quantity of articles on a regular basis. As writers use resources to write articles, sometimes a turn of phrase or quote may be used in an article without intending to copy another writer's work. Or, if you write several articles on the same subject yet each has to be unique, you can actually end up plagiarizing yourself. In cases like this, you need to be able to check you work against what is already out there on the Internet so you don't run the risk of plagiarism.

Learn about plagiarism checkers. All writers should use some sort of plagiarism checker before submitting articles so they don't run the risk of being deleted from writing sites that also check your work. These article checkers are also a good way to make sure your articles are not being stolen from you and placed on other websites too. Some article checking sites are free and others charge a fee.

Try Copyscape, which is a widely used article checking site where you can paste content into a text box and it will check all phrases against content on the Internet. You can also type in your website or blog URL and check to see if there are any copies from there on other sites. The site gives you the links to the sites where the duplicate information is found and also highlights exactly what is copied word for word. The URL service is free, but the article checking service is not free. Copyscape also offers a service called Copysentry that, for a fee, will track your entire website or blog against plagiarism and email you alerts in case another site has stolen your content.
