Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Paper and pencil or a computer
-
Step 1
Write everyday. Always set aside some time for you to write. Many people will suggest 30 minutes to an hour or 1000 to 2000 words per day, I suggest write at least a paragraph a day. A paragraph is generally 3 to 5 sentences in length sometimes shorter or longer, but try not to go below 3 sentences. If you feel that you can write more than a paragraph that's wonderful, the more you can write the better.
-
Step 2
Don't censor yourself, write whatever it is that comes to you. Once you begin to censor yourself the possibility of writers block or blandness is more likely. Since you're not following guidelines set by school or a career you have no need to hold back. While writing don't worry about jumping from one subject to another, if you feel the need you can edit what you wrote later. It is a given fact that you will experience writers block at some point and other times your writing may not quite be up to par. Try not to sweat it.

Step 3
Write what you know, you may have heard this before and you'll probably hear it again. If you try to write what you don't know you won't get anywhere, even when writing a fictional story, at least when set in the real world, you have to know what you're writing about. The only time you may not have to follow this rule is when writing something completely other worldly. This step is particularly helpful when writing for school or an occupation but if this becomes a censor for your everyday practice disregard this step.
