Step 1
The first step to ease anxiety is to get your breathing in check. Breathe slowly and deliberately. Make a very conscious decision (tell your body) to inhale and exhale deeply.
-
Step 2
Straighten your posture and clear your airway so you can stand up straight if needed. Incorrect or poor posture can put undue stress on your body and worsen your anxiety.
-
Step 3
Don’t think about anything serious. Count backwards down from 100 or say your ABC’s backwards. The important thing here is to get your mind off of whatever it is that is causing anxiety.
-
Step 4
Spray some cold water on your face. Cold water will divert your brain from whatever it might be thinking about and focus it on the abrupt wet liquid in your face.
-
Step 5
Finally you can ease anxiety by getting out and moving. Do some running or intense physical exercise. Don’t think about anything, just work your body hard. This should help you get ease anxiety and avoid anxiety attacks.
