Shoot! You just had your nails done yesterday and you've chipped that gorgeous polish. There's no need to remove all the polish on the nail and start completely over ... here's how to save that expensive manicure or pedicure quickly, easily and cheaply!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Nail polish
  • Acetone-based polish remover
  • Topcoat
  • Cotton balls or pads
  1. Step 1

Using the same color as your nail polish, drop a dot of fresh polish on to the chipped area. Let dry for about two minutes - polish should still be a little tacky to the touch.

  2. Step 2

Soak a cotton ball or cosmetic pad with acetone-based polish remover. Gently dab the ball over the spot to soften and smooth out the excess polish. Be careful not to remove the polish from the entire nail. Use a soft, pushing or patting motion.

  3. Step 3

Once smooth, let dry for another 3 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Apply a coat of color over the entire nail. Set the polish with a high-quality topcoat. Let dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you get professional manicures or pedicures, ask the tech for a sample of the color for touch-ups between visits. In higher-end nail salons, this is included in the mani/pedi.
  • This works on most types of polish, the higher quality, the better the results.
  • This procedure works best on natural nails. I've tried this with acrylic nails using non-acetone polish remover and did not get good results. I'm back to my natural nails!
