Step 1
This one worked the best. For every whole that she had dug we took some of her poop and placed them in the bottom of the hole and then placed dirt on top of the whole. We also did grass seed and grass fertilizer to help the grass start growing back in that area. She would go to the hole and smell the poop and didn't want to dig there. She did start digging new holes which we proceeded to do the same thing but after 6 holes she stopped all together.

Step 2
To keep your dog from digging out of your yard this one is time consuming but worth it to not have to pay the city for getting your dog back. Along your fence at the bottom dig down enough to place chicken wire along the bottom of the fence. We stapled it to the bottom of the fence so it would stay. Then place dirt back over the chicken wire. When the dog starts digging now they will get the chicken wire and stop.

Step 3
The third that worked but not as good as the first option is to monitor your dog in the back yard and watch when they start digging and spray them with water. It quickly gets their attention and can help them realize they aren't doing a good thing.

Step 4
Also, make sure your dog doesn't go out with treats in their mouth. Keep those inside. First of all they get really nasty with their spit and with dirt. Second, those are the most likely to get burried in the back yard as a treat for later. This will help them also if they take their sweet time going potty then they will look forward to coming back in because their treat is there waiting for them.
