How to Remain Motivated for a Healthier Lifestyle

Things You'll Need:

  • Photo of Self
  • Paper
  • Pen or Pencil
  1. Step 1

    Keep a current photo of yourself on your fridge or in your wallet. When your at the fridge for a snack or out to a restaurant, this will be a helpful tool to remind you of your goal.

  2. Step 2

    Make a list of the activities you would like to achieve with a healthier you. Such as, "I want the energy to play out side with my kids." or "I want to look good in a bathing suit" or "I want to fit into my old pair of jeans".

  3. Step 3

    Talk to you husband or wife, sister, brother, friend, or co-worker about your goal. They can help you though those hard times and keep you motivated. They may also have different tips to help you.

  4. Step 4

    Take the stairs not the elevator.

  5. Step 5

    Set up a daily time to walk with a buddy.

  6. Step 6

    Take your kids, husband or wife, dog, or friends to the park. Take a frisby, play catch, fly a kite, or any other outdoor activity.

  7. Step 7

    When at a restaurant look for the healthy options on the menu.

  8. Step 8

    Restaurants normally serve larger portions of food. Ask for a take out box with your meal and put half of your meal in the box to take home.

  9. Step 9

    Limit your alcoholic drink intake. Alcoholic drinks are typically high in calories and fat.

  10. Step 10

    Make a list of healthier snacks or meal options and post it on your fridge. When your hungry, look at your list in stead of standing in front of the fridge.

Tips & Warnings
  • --Creating a friendly focus group to remain on your diet or to keep a healthy life style will help you by helping those around to be healthier as well.
  • --Special Occasions typically serve fattening deserts. It is ok to ask for a smaller portion. You can always say "I am not that hungry", or "I am trying to eat healthier".
  • --When cooking use foods with a lower fat content such as margarine, skim milk, etc.
