It was a dark and stormy night. Candlelight throws eerie shadows across the wall while you settle down with your beloved to watch a classic horror movie. You anxiously await the flickering glow of your favorite black and white pic when the screen turns blue and screams "No disc!" There is an easy solution to this mood killing dilemma. It only takes a minute, then you're back in Hollywood heaven before you know it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Damaged DVD, CD, or computer disc
  • Toothpaste (regular basic white paste, please)
  • Water for rinsing (a clear sink is fine)
  1. Step 1

Take your scratched disc and inspect it in the light. If it's just a minor scratch, proceed to the next step. If it's a deep scratch or break, this won't help you, sorry.

  2. Step 2

Run the disc under cool running water to remove any debris. Squeeze dots of the toothpaste along the inner edge of the disc, then gently rub the paste outward along the disc in a straight motion. Think of a sunray, go straight, not circular.

  3. Step 3

Once treated, rinse the disc under cool water until clean. Using a lint free towel, dry the disc using the same motion you used earlier. Let it air dry for a minute or two, then pop it into your player, and enjoy the show!
