Step 1
TrackFirst purchase the type of hair and color that you want to use to match your own hair. The price varies depending on the texture and the length. Make sure it is for weaving and has the track on it (also referred to as wefted hair). Do not use bulk. The bulk hair does not have the track on it for weaving with glue.
-
Step 2
Start off with a clean shampooed head. After shampooing and conditioning do not add any oils to your hair or scalp. This will prevent the glue from bonding well. Make sure the hair and scalp are completely dry before starting.
-
Step 3
Part your hair horizontally about an inch away from the nape of your neck. You can use bobby pins or a pony tail holder to keep the rest of your hair from mixing with your part. Now take the weave and measure it horizontally up against the exposed hair that has been separated from the hair above the part. Make sure it is even in length and not longer than the horizontal part that you’ve made. Hold your finger in place on top of the track so you will know where to cut it.
-
Step 4
Hair Bonding GlueAfter you have removed the track from your hair for measurement, cut the track. Now you can apply bonding glue horizontally across the track where it is stitched (or wefted) together. Once you have applied the glue to the track, quickly but carefully apply it about ¼ of an inch below the part that you made. Make sure the side with the glue is facing your head and is on top of your natural hair, not on your scalp.
-
Step 5
Hold the track in place for about 5 seconds while the glue bonds the weave to your own hair. For added bondage use a blow dryer on a low cool setting to dry the glue even faster. Not too close, hold it about 3 inches away from the track.
-
Step 6
Repeat steps 1 through 5 until you reach the desired length and thickness of your choice. Always leave a substantial amount of hair out on the top of your head to cover your tracks (no pun intended). Once you have put in all your tracks you can style your hair as usual. Make sure you do not get your hair wet. If you are using 100% human hair you can even apply heat to it. Enjoy!
