    Fixing the Rollers & Track

  1. Step 1

Grasp the door on each side. Lift up and pull outwards at the bottom and remove the door. Set the door aside.

  2. Step 2

Vacuum the tracks to remove any debris. If the tracks are broken or damaged, replacement parts can be found at your local home center.

  3. Step 3

Wash the upper and lower tracks with warm, soapy water.

  4. Step 4

Coat the tracks with WD40 or other lubricating oil.

  5. Step 5

Locate the rollers on the door. If they are broken or damaged, replacement parts can be found at your local home center.

  6. Step 6

Clean debris from the rollers. You may need a razor blade to cut debris away.

  7. Step 7

Lubricate the rollers and re-install the door by inserting its top edge into the top track first. Lifting up slightly, set the bottom edge of the door in the lower track and test to see if it will slide properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not use a lubricating oil that, if walked upon, could be tracked onto the carpet.
  • Sliding doors are heavy; a second person may be needed.
