Creating a Web site is one of the most effective ways to promote yourself or a product, to draw attention to an idea and to generate income. Web sites can be reached and viewed by anyone with a computer and an Internet connection, however sometimes it is necessary to create a fee-based Web site, which will ask potential viewers to pay some sort of a fee to view the content of the Web site.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  1. Step 1

Go to a site such as Webs.com or Weebly.com that will allow you to create and publish a Web site.

  2. Step 2

Type in your desired "domain name," password and e-mail address. For the free sites, your domain name will be used, but the parent site (webs or weebly) will be included in the name. For example, if you wanted your domain to be janesmith, the free site through Webs.com would be "www.janesmith.webs.com." However, for $10 a year as of July 2009, you can remove the Webs from the domain name and also gain more bandwidth.

  3. Step 3

Select from the wide assortment of predesigned templates. These templates will be the background pages for your site. You'll now be taken to your Web site manger, which will allow you to add information and import images.

  4. Step 4

Type in the information you want others to be able to read. Click the "text" button and then click and drag anywhere on the page. In this created box you can type in your content. When you have completed, click outside the box. The box will then disappear and you'll be left with just the text.

  5. Step 5

Import any images or videos you would like to have posted on the site. Because the sites are free, you will not have much space, so most videos will be too large (memory wise) to be placed onto the site. However short, compressed videos might work. Once the site is purchased you will be able to store and import more content onto the site (up to 5 gigs worth of space).

  6. Step 6

Purchase a membership scripting software. This software will allow you to setup a fee-based system, where the visitors of the site will need to pay to access the content. This will normally be done through a PayPal account at PayPal.com. Click on "Resources" for the account subscription software.

  7. Step 7

Install the software into the computer. When you launch the software you will be asked to link the Web site domain to the fee-based membership you want to create. Type in the domain name and the password to the site, as well as what company the domain is through (webs.com, weebly.com).

  8. Step 8

Select the forms of payment you will accept (typically credit/debit and PayPal). Attach your PayPal account to it so all made funds will be deposited into the account. Here you will need the username for the PayPal account, as well as the password. If you don't currently have an account you can sign up for free at PayPal.com.

  9. Step 9

Go back to your domain provider and sign onto your Web page. Review the content for clarity and accuracy and when you're confident the content is ready, click on the "Publish" button. Your site will go live, or the updates will be added, within a few minutes.

  10. Step 10

Publish the content from the subscription service. It will now be placed in front of the Web site and will require guests to sign up for the Web site before being allowed to enter. The subscription service will generate a username and password for the users to allow them future access.
