Instructions

    • 1

Cut the cubed steak into portion-size chunks and put in a bowl.

    • 2

Season the meat to taste with salt, black pepper and garlic powder. Add your favorite seasonings as well.

    • 3

Pour flour into the bowl and toss around the meat so all pieces are evenly coated with the flour and seasoning.

    • 4

Heat up and prepare the gravy in a saucepan, following the directions on the package. Set aside when done.

    • 5

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • 6

Add onions to the skillet and saute for about 1 minute, until they soften.

    • 7

Add the pieces of steak to the skillet and brown both sides. Don't worry about cooking the meat through at this point, just to where it is slightly brown.

    • 8

Add the can of mushroom soup, along with about 1/2 can of water, to the skillet.

    • 9

Add gravy mixture to the skillet and stir to blend all the ingredients together. Wait for the meat to come to a boil before proceeding to the next step.

    • 10

Place a cover over the skillet and turn the stove down to low. Let the meat and gravy simmer for approximately 45 minutes, or until the meat is tender enough to cut with a fork.

    • 11

Add the mushrooms during the last few minutes. Stir them into the meat and gravy mixture to heat them all the way through.

Tips & Warnings

  • The mushrooms and mushroom soup can be omitted if you wish. To replace the liquid of the soup, use chicken or vegetable stock.
