Things You'll Need:
- screen
- spline
- spline roller
- exact o-knife
-
Step 1
First you will need to take apart your old screen. Remove the old spline and take out the screen.
-
Step 2
Now you will need to measure the screen. When you go to the hardware store remember to bring the measurments and the spline with you.
-
Step 3
Now its time to buy the screan. Screen comes in rolls of different lengths and widths, colors, and materials. First you need to decide wether you want a fiberglass screen or an aluminum screen. I would recoment an aluminum screen because they are more durable. Now you need to choose a color and length. You will usually have the choice of a charcoal or silver color. Once you have choosen a color all you haave to do is make sure that the roll you are buying is long enough and wide enough to fit your window.
-
Step 4
Next step is to put the window together. First you will need to roll the screen over the existing window. Once the screen is on top start pushing the spline into the square impression. make sure the screen is under the spline so the spline secures the screen. You will have to cut the spline verytime you come to a corner and then restart pushing it in once you have made the corner.
-
Step 5
once you have done the first side you will need to keep pulling the screen tight so that the screen fits good and dosn't have play.
-
Step 6
Once the spline is in you will need to roll it with your spline roller. it is a good idea to do this as you are putting the spline in. Now it is time to cut off the extra screen. Take your exact o-knife and run it along the edge of the spline so that it looks neat.
-
Step 7
Once you are done cutting the extra screen off you are done and you can put your screen window or door back in.
