Clean the burn stains from stainless steel pans Naturally! Stainless steel pans are an essential part of any chef's kitchen. They are safer than pans with non-stick surfaces. But, they can be REALLY hard to clean! Don't reach for the toxic chemical cleaners! Use this all natural and very easy method!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vinegar
  • Stove
  • Scratch pad
  1. Step 1

Wash the pan in hot soapy water and remove any food residue using a normal washing method.

  2. Step 2

Place the pan on a level surface and fill to the top with vinegar.

  3. Step 3

Let the pan sit overnight. The vinegar will begin to erode the burnt oil/food.

  4. Step 4

In the morning or after about 12 hours, empty most of the vinegar (recycle to shine up stainless steel sinks!).

  5. Step 5

Use the remaining vinegar and a scrubbing pad to remove the remaining burnt spots. A water/baking soda paste may also help to get the final burnt areas clean.

  6. Step 6

Alas, if the methods above fail, place the pan back on the stove and fill half full with vinegar. Bring to a boil and allow the burnt areas to cook for 10-15 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sometimes adding vinegar while the pan is still hot will speed up the process.
  • Follow cooking safety when working near flames or heat.
