    Fluke Rig

Use a tyical fluke rig with a 2-4 ounce weight attached and bait on the hook.

  2. Step 2

The most common bait used to catch fluke is small bait fish such as sand eels, spearing, or live killies.

  3. Step 3

Place the bait on the hook and lower it into the water.

  4. Step 4

When the weight hits the bottom, reel in a few feet so that it is near the bottom but not touching it.

  5. Step 5

Every minute or so, pull the tip of the pole towards the sky. If any fluke are around the bait and see it moving away, they will go for it.

  6. Step 6

If a fluke does go for it, you will feel it. Yank the pole up to set the hook in the fluke's mouth. Then reel it in.

When you get the fluke to the surface of the water, you can either lift him out of the water with the rod or you can scoop him up with a net.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are using a net to scoop up the fluke, place the net in front of him. Since fluke can only swim forward, he will swim right into the net.
