Things You'll Need:
- 1 large ceramic or terra-cotta bowl
- 1 submersible pump
- 1 small pot with holes in it
- 1 focal stone with a hole drilled through it
- crushed charcoal (filter carbon)
- 1 pair of old pantyhose
- aquatic potting mix
- pebbles
-
Step 1
the first thing we want to do is to take the small pot with holes in it and place it over the pump. Make sure the holes are on the sides of the small pot so the water can pass through it to the pump, and placing the small pot and pump into the large pot
-
Step 2
now take some of the pebbles making sure they are clean and washed first, and place some of them around the small pot to help hide or disguise it.
-
Step 3
now take your focal stone and place it on top of the small pot. the top of the stone will be the waterfall or bubble stone.( you can run your hose from the pump through one of the holes in the small pot and then under your focal stone, when doing this make sure not to crimp or kink the hose for this will stop the water flow of the pump.
-
Step 4
now you can add more pebbles and fill in your large pot. add 1 tablespoonful of crushed charcoal (same charcoal as for fish tanks) just mix it in with the pebbles. this will help to keep out any orders and reduces possible algal and discoloration of pebbles.
-
Step 5
now you can take some of the potting mix wrapped in pieces of old pantyhose an put some dwarf-growing plants in them. One plant per pantyhose section. there are many different kinds of water plants you can use just ask at your local garden center or nursery for they will be glad to help you choose your plants.
-
Step 6
you will want to place your plants in the bowl and them place a few of the pebbles around them to help secure them in their place.
-
Step 7
if you choose to add plants to your fountain make sure you place you fountain where the place can get the needed sunlight they need in order to survive.
-
Step 8
now fill your bowl with water, plug in your pump and enjoy.
