Bored with tartar sauce? Here's a tasty alternative to that traditional sauce for fried fish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon diced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon minced green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon tomato sauce
  1. Step 1

In some parts of Southern Massachusetts, Portuguese restaurants will make a dipping sauce for fried fish. Fried cod and mackerel are popular. When you dip any cooked fish to this unnamed dipping sauce, the flavor will truly be enhanced. The recipe is a very close approximation to the actual recipe. Serving size is one.

  2. Step 2

Combine the liquids: vinegar, olive oil, and tomato sauce and mix well. These ingredients do not blend well but as long as they are mixed it will be fine.

  3. Step 3

Add the remaining spices: diced onions, parsley, green onions, and crushed red pepper. Mix well.

  4. Step 4

Serve in a small container for sauces. Make a larger batch for more servings by multiplying the ingredients. Surprise your guest when you serve fried fish. Serve traditional tartar sauce and the Portuguese dipping sauce for fish and see which is popular.
