It is sometimes necessary to remove a callus due to pain or discomfort. This is particularly true of calluses which appear on the soles of feet. These natural efforts by the body to prevent pain can, with time, result in more misery than they were intended to prevent.

Fortunately, it's simple to remove a callus naturally. Because shaving and other professional approaches to callus removal are unwise and even dangerous to attempt on your own, these instructions outline a method that is both simple and safe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    PERFORM CALLUS TREATMENT AT NIGHT

This treatment requires the callus area to be treated overnight. Depending on the location of your callus, it might be best to preform this treatment right before bedtime.

  2. Step 2

    SOAK YOUR CALLUS

Soak your foot (or the area of your body affected by callus) in a bath of warm water for approximately 30 minutes. The point of this is to soften the hard skin of the callus.

  3. Step 3

    DRY THE AREA

Dry the area around your callus.

  4. Step 4

    FILE THE AREA

While the area of your callus is soft, use the nail file to rough the surface. This is not done in an effort to remove a callus, but to make a callus more receptive to the application of vinegar.

  5. Step 5

SOAK THE COTTON BALL IN VINEGAR

Apply vinegar to the cotton ball.

  6. Step 6

    APPLY COTTON BALL TO CALLUS

To remove a callus, apply the vinegar-soaked directly to the callused area. IF the callused area is extremely small, trim the cotton ball to a size only large enough to cover the entire callus.

***Apple Cider Vinegar will cause damage to area of skin that is not callused. To prevent this, do not use a cotton ball larger than the area you need to treat.***

  7. Step 7

    COVER WITH BANDAGE

Cover the callus with a bandage.

  8. Step 8

    ALLOW TO SET OVERNIGHT

  9. Step 9

REMOVE BANDAGE AND COTTON BALL IN THE MORNING

  10. Step 10

REPEAT PROCESS NIGHTLY UNTIL CALLUS IS REMOVED

Tips & Warnings
  • This process may cause some pain. The Apple cider vinegar is literally causing chemical erosion of the callus.
  • It is always recommended that you contact your primary care physician before trying a home remedy. Contact your doctor to make sure this treatment does not pose a risk due to your physical condition.
  • Calluses return.
