Cold coffee drinks are refreshing on a hot summer day. Usually a simple blend of ice, coffee and milk, frozen coffee drinks are easy to vary. If you are lactose intolerant, use soy, almond or rice milk in place of the dairy. Decadent individuals can substitute half-and-half for the milk and add chocolate syrup and a dollop of whipped cream. You can also add sweetness with regular, raw or brown sugar. Try adding flavored syrups or liqueurs, or create a chocolate-mint delight by adding 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup and 1 teaspoon mint extract. You can also head for the tropics by substituting coconut milk for regular milk and adding 2 tablespoons of pina colada mix. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 1 cup brewed coffee or espresso, chilled
  • 10 to 12 ice cubes
  • 3 cups milk
