How to Play Rook Online

Rook is a classic card game that was introduced by Parker Brothers in 1906. It uses a unique 57-card deck and is designed for four players competing as two two-player teams. Rights to the game are owned by Hasbro, which acquired Parker Brothers. Hasbro does not have an official online version of the game. There are still online versions of the game that you can play for free, but because the publishers of these games do not own the rights to the name, they are not called "Rook." The rules and game play are the same.

    Instructions

      • 1

Review the official rules of Rook if you're not familiar with them. You can find a link to a PDF of the official rule book in the Resources section below. Although the versions of Rook that can be played online are not directly affiliated with Parker Brothers, the publisher of the rule book, all of the online versions use these same rules.

Navigate to the Duelboard website, where you can find a version of Rook that does not require you to register your e-mail address. You can find a link to this page in the Resources section below. Click the image of the raven to start the Web-based application for Raven, Duelboard's version of Rook.

Click one of the "rooms" listed on the Duelboard site. Each room is limited to 100 players, and you should be able to see how many people are in each room before you decide which one to enter. When you click a room, you will be redirected to the lobby for that room.

Look at the list of tables in the top left corner of the lobby window. Each table has four boxes next to it, and inside each box is either the name of a player or the word "empty." You can join any table with an empty seat by clicking on the table and then clicking on the empty seat when the table appears.

Wait for the game to begin, then start playing. The cards will be dealt automatically, and you'll hear a tone every time it is your turn. You can chat with other players by using the chat window within the game interface. When the game is over, the table window will close automatically and you will be returned to the lobby, where you can quit or join a new game.
