Aroma sachets are great for keeping clothes smelling great. Scented sachets in dresser drawers or hanging in closets keep clothes smelling fresh and clean for a long time. Use sachets when storing out-of-season clothes. Put a scented sachet in the car. Make sachets to give away as gifts. Make a lot of these simple sachets for you and your friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the organza into 4 by 7-inch pieces. Pin two pieces together, one on top of the other. Sew along one of the 7-inch sides of the fabric, taking the pins out as you go.

  2. Step 2

Unfold the fabric along the sewed seam. Fold down the top edge of the sachet, to the inside of the bag, about ½ inch. Fold just the ragged edge under to form a finished edge. Pin in place and sew all the way across.

  3. Step 3

Fold the sachet along the side seam with right sides together and pin in place. Start sewing down the remaining side just beneath the folded edge. Sew all along the bottom of the bag.

  4. Step 4

Turn the bag right side out. Cut a piece of ribbon to a 15-inch length. Put a safety pin in one end of the ribbon and close the pin. Put another safety pin in the other end of the ribbon and attach the ribbon to the top of the sachet. Stick the free hanging pin into the hole you created by folding down and sewing the top edge. Work the pin and the ribbon all the way around the bag.

  5. Step 5

Pull out the excess ribbon. Take out the pins. Tie the two ends of the ribbon together in a tight knot.

  6. Step 6

Fill the sachet with whatever combination of dried herbs and flowers you like.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use plenty of pins when sewing with organza. It is very slippery material. Depending on what kind of herbs and flowers you are using in your sachet, you may want to double up on the fabric. This will help keep tiny pieces from falling out and making a mess.
