How to Make a Cuddle Wrap Blanket
It can hard to find a happy medium between keeping the thermostat set low to save on the heating bill and being comfortable. For an evening spent with a good book or watching a movie, a cuddle wrap blanket will keep you warm and cozy, yet leave your hands free for a book or the remote. And you won't have to worry about it slipping off your shoulders when you answer the phone or get up to fetch a snack.
Things You'll Need
- 3 yards fleece fabric
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Straight pins

1
Cut 28 inches off one end of the fleece fabric. Fold in half width-wise and cut on the fold line. This gives two pieces that measure 30 inches by 28 inches for the sleeves. Fold each piece right sides together. Sew a 1/2-inch seam on each, along the 30-inch length, and turn right side out. Set aside.

2
Lay the remaining piece of fleece on a flat surface, right side up. Fold in each side 16 inches toward the center. Measure down 12 inches from the upper corner of each folded side and place a mark on the fabric. Measure down from this mark another 8 1/2 inches and make another mark.

3
Draw a semicircle on each side of the fabric between the two marks. This can be drawn free-hand or use a plate or bowl for a guide. Cut out the semicircle on both sides. This will make the opening for the cuddle wrap blanket sleeves.

4
Fold under a 3/4-inch hem on the top and sides of the fleece and pin in place. Stitch these hems.
-
5
Pin the sleeves into the sleeve openings with the right sides together, centering the sleeve seam at the bottom of the sleeve opening. The sleeve fabric may gather slightly to fit the opening. Stitch the sleeve into the sleeve opening. Turn right side out.

6
Measure up 3 inches from the bottom of the fleece and mark a line all the way around the bottom on the wrong side. Cut 1-inch wide sections up to the 3-inch line. Do this all the way around the bottom edge. Knot the cut sections together two at a time. This makes a fringe around the bottom of the cuddle wrap blanket.
