How to Install a Creative Web Cam

  1. Installing the Webcam

      Insert the software and drivers disk into your CD/DVD drive. If an auto play window pops open, select the "Install" option. This will begin the installation wizard automatically. If the auto play option doesn't start, go on to Step 2.

      Double-click on the computer icon on your desktop or navigate to "My Computer" by opening up the Start menu and selecting "My Computer." A window will pop open. Right-click on the drive were the disc is located, for example DVD Drive (F:). Select the "Install" option to start the installation wizard.

      Plug your webcam into the desired USB port. If you have not installed the drivers, the device driver wizard will begin searching for the drivers on its own. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 utilize the plug-and-play option and will automatically find the drivers for you. However, it is recommended to install the drivers from the disc or from the Creative Labs website.

      Set up your webcam for use on Skype from the Skype main menu. Select "Tools" and then select "Options." Click on the "General" tab and then click on the "Video" tab. Check the "Enable Skype Video" box, and you're ready to go.

      Set up Windows Live Messenger for video messaging by opening Messenger and clicking on the menu button located in the top right of the window. Select "Tools" and click on "Audio and Video Setup." This will start a new wizard. Adjust the speaker settings and press "Next." Now adjust the microphone settings and then press "Next" again. Select the desired webcam to use from the drop-down menu and hit the "Finish" button.
