How to Hide a User from Login Screen of Windows XP

A lot of us use to share our computer system with family or friends with a number of users login so that each of them have there own Desktop, Menu, Mm Document and other personalized working environment. The different user who are there on the computer system is visible on the Windows Welcome Screen.

Some of the time even we want a user access available there which is not visible on the Windows Welcome Screen. Doing so will make it possible to have a hidden space that no body else is acquainted off except you or the one who have created it. The How to guides you the step the step process to do that.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • The Admin Login Details for your computer system
  1. Step 1

    Login to your computer system with a admin account so that you can access the administrative privilege or any other which has the admin privileges

  2. Step 2

    Open the Registry, to do so Click Start -> Run -> Regedit -> Ok

  3. Step 3
     

    Navigate to subsequent locations
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\WinLogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

    Check the Figure for Reference

  4. Step 4

    Now, You would find that UserList is selected Right Click on the UserList file and choose NEW, and then choose DWORD value.

  5. Step 5
     

    Give that new key the exact same name as the User Account that you want to get rid of from the Xp Welcome Screen (Logon Screen), for example MrXp in our case

    Check the Figure for Reference

  6. Step 6

    Double-click on the key you have just created (i.e MrXp) and provide it a value of O (Zero)
    You can take this to your reference
    (O -> Do not show this user account on the Windows XP Welcome Screen)
    (1 -> Show this user account on the Windows XP Welcome Screen)

  7. Step 7

    Close the Registry Editor and Restart Your Computer and You are Done

Tips & Warnings
  • How to Login into the User Account You will hide Simply Press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice while on the Welcome Screen and you will find a screen with UserName & Password login as the hidden user you have created
  • Take a Registry Backup before editing the Registry
