How to Set Up a Free to Air Receiver

Run some coaxial cable between your free-to-air satellite receiver to your satellite's dish outside--connecting one end to your dish's LNB coaxial port and the opposite end to the "SAT IN" coaxial port on the back of your free to air receiver.

Match the red, white and yellow heads on one end of a composite video cable to the red, white and yellow composite video ports on the back of your receiver--match the red, white and yellow composite ends of the opposite side of the composite video cable to their matching ports on the back of your television.

Plug your receiver into a power outlet and then flip on the power switch--turn on your television set. Press you remote control's "Menu" button. Select the onscreen option labeled "Dish1," and then choose the option to set it as your default dish.

Move down to the "Satellite" heading. Select the satellite you aligned your dish to from the list of available satellites, and then press "OK."

Move down to the "LNB" heading. Enter you dish's LNB type (e.g. single LNB; dual LNB etc), and frequency. Before exiting the menu, select the "Sat Scan" option to download an updated list of channels from the satellite your dish is aligned with.
