You will quickly and easily learn to swim and feel confident the next time you're swimming at the local pool.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Swimming pool or shallow (calm) pond
  • partially deflated basketball (trust me!)
  1. Step 1

Most people don't learn to swim because they have a fear of water. Start by walking around the shallow end of the swimming pool

  2. Step 2

Hold the partially deflated basketball in your hands. With your arms fully extended in the water in front of you, slowly lean forward and kick your legs and feet. Repeat over and over again!

  3. Step 3

Now hold the same ball between your feet. This can be tricky but trust me it works. As the ball floats to the top of the water, extend your body forward. With your hands cupped, start to paddle your arms, keeping your head above water. Repeat over and over again!

  4. Step 4

Now it's time to get rid of the ball. While standing in the water, slowly lean forward, extending your body in the water. Kick your legs and paddle your arms. Slowly, but surely, you'll be able to swim across the pool.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient
  • Stay calm
  • Respect the water
  • Have fun!
  • Beginners should always swim in an pool with a certified lifeguard watching.
  • If you're swimming outdoors, wear sunscreen.
